Deion Sanders is reportedly close to sealing a deal for a top prospect. The new Colorado head coach was hired less than a week ago yet he isn’t sitting on his laurels and has been going hard when it comes to recruitment.
One of the few players to excel at both football and baseball professionally, Sanders has been working as a football coach since 2012. And his arrival in Colorado has certainly gotten people talking.
The former NFL and MLB star led Jackson State to a 27-5 record in three seasons before leaving for pastures new. He was named head coach of Colorado on December 3, much to the distaste of Tigers fans.
Deion Sanders Has Gotten Right Down To Business
Sanders, 55, has already gotten his way with the recruitment of a four-star wide receiver for the class of 2025 and is now close to snagging a four-star running back for 2023. Dylan Edwards committed to Notre Dame back in August but, according to Adam Gorney of Rival.com, Sanders and his staff are seriously pursuing the player, who has since de-committed from the Fighting Irish’s program.
“The word is Colorado coach Deion Sanders and his staff are making a serious run at four-star all-purpose back Dylan Edwards, who just decommitted from Notre Dame,” Gorney tweeted on Thursday.
Edwards previously committed to Kansas State but opted to head to Notre Dame instead. Now, it appears he could be playing his football for the University of Colorado.

Deion Sanders Has Done This Before
Sanders, of course, has a reputation for flipping players too. Only last December, he stole defensive back Travis Hunter for Jackson State after the No.1 overall recruit committed to Florida State.
“I’m going on record to tell you guys we’re going to shock the country,” he said prior to making Hunter the first five-star recruit to sign for an FCS program. “I’m telling you right now. You’ve heard it from me. We’re going to shock the country.”
