It’s been an incredible run for Deion Sanders at Jackson State. Unfortunately, that run comes to an end today.
With Prime Time set to take over as the head coach at Colorado next season, today’s Celebration Bowl matchup with North Carolina Central marks Deion’s final outing with the Tigers. It was always going to be an emotional affair, so it came as little surprise to see Sanders get emotional while addressing his team before their final game together.
“Not tomorrow. Now. Not the next day. Now,” a choked up Sanders told his players.
Jackson State is looking to cap off their undefeated season with a win. They entered today’s contest with a 12-0 record on the season.
This was Sanders’ third season with the team. He led the Tigers to a 4-3 record in his first year, during the covid-affected 2020 season. Last year, he helped Jackson State take a huge leap, as they finished 11-2, with an 8-0 conference record.

Prime Time has only been the head coach at Colorado for two weeks now, but he’s already making plenty of noise at the Division I level.
Not only is Sanders attracting plenty of of the nation’s top young recruits, but he also has the Pac-12 in good position to cash in on his arrival with a lucrative new television contract. Their commissioner has already admitted that much, as he made it known that he plans to use Deion Sanders as leverage in their negotiations.
