If the University of Colorado Buffaloes perform as poorly as top media outlets and prognosticators expect, sportsbooks will be taking home more giant bundles of cash.
There is plenty of hype around the Buffaloes’ program for one obvious reason: The arrival or Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who takes over as the head coach of the program following a successful three-year stint with the Jackson State Tigers.
As noted by Ben Fawkes of USA Today’s For The Win website, plenty of sportsbooks have set the Buffalo’s over/under win total at 3.5. At BetMGM and DraftKings especially, customers are placing a lot of wagers on Colorado going over 3.5 wins:
“The Buffs to go OVER their win total of 3.5 is the most-best season win total at multiple sportsbooks. At BetMGM, 88% of bets and 89% of handle are on the Buffs’ OVER. Colorado OVER 3.5 wins is the most-bet over/under by both dollars wagered and total bets at DraftKings Sportsbook.”
Joey Feazel, the top college football trader for Caesars Sportsbook, told Fawkes that the most common bet-win total there is also Colorado going over on the win total.
The Buffaloes went 1-11 last year. Head coach Karl Dorrell was let go following an 0-5 start, and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Sanford Jr. finished the year as Colorado’s head coach.

Colorado has had just one winning season since 2017, and that was three years ago. In a shortened 2020 season (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Colorado went 4-2 and reached the Alamo Bowl, where they fell 55-23 to Texas.
Sanders went 27-6 over his three years at Jackson State, leading them to SWAC Championship victories in 2021 and 2022.
