The Deion Sanders effect is being felt in Colorado, which has been the case since his move was announced late last year. But it’s since translated into a big win on the field and the Buffaloes are the most bet-on football team ahead of this weekend’s many games.
According to BetMGM (H/T ESPN), the Colorado-Nebraska game has garnered more bets than every NFL game remaining to be played in Week 1.
The Buffs have also been favored to win by 90 percent of bettors ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Cornhuskers, with more money wagered on them minus the points against the visitors than has been put down on any of the NFL teams left to play.
The NFL season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions on Thursday was the only game that got more bets.
As of Friday, Colorado was a 2.5-point favorite against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers were 9-point favorites vs. Deion’s side prior to the start of the season. But things have changed since the Buffaloes’ incisive takedown of the Horned Frogs last weekend as people are starting to “believe.”.
“Every time I have glanced at the college football ticker since Saturday, I have seen a line of Colorado bets,” lead college football trader for Caesars Sportsbook Joey Feazel told ESPN. “The action has been crazy.”
