Deion Sanders has done a lot of shaking and moving since he took over the football program at Colorado.
The team will have a very different look about it next season given the high number of exits, as well as the notable arrivals.
The former NFL and MLB star wasted no time letting his new group know that no one was safe once he arrived. And, judging from their record over the past several seasons, it was always going to be hard for anyone on the team to keep their spot.
Coach Prime was recently interviewed by Joel Klatt and admitted he inherited a “mess,” having realized as much when he walked into a room and there was music on.
“I go into this one room and music is playing,” he recalled. “I said, ‘Excuse me. What is this?’”
He said one of the players replied: “Uh, coach, we always bring the boom box into our position meeting room.”

He added:
“I said, ‘Have you lost your mind? If you ever bring music into one of my meetings, I promise you we will never see each other again in life.’”
“That’s the kind of junk that was going on, and I get rid of that and you’ve got a problem? They had no idea what was going on in this mess with that type of foolishness, after I just got finished challenging you as young men, telling you this room right here will not be the room we go to Fort Worth with. I promise you that. It’s going to be a lot of changes. It’s up to you to be one of those changes, and you gave it to me. You put it on a tee.”
Even with Deion’s arrival, the Buffaloes aren’t tipped to achieve anything of note in 2023, so he knows he has his work cut out for him. He did work wonders with the program at Jackson State and it will be interesting to see how things work out in Colorado.
The erstwhile pro cornerback is still hot on the recruiting trail as he seeks to improve fortunes in Boulder and has already secured some top talent ahead of the upcoming campaign.
There’s not going to be any music on during meetings, though.
