What were the Colorado Buffaloes doing at the end of the game?
The Buffaloes fell just short in their bid to upset No. 8 USC. Down 48–21 with 2:14 left in the third quarter, Colorado showed the nation just how much resilience they have when they scored the game’s last 20 points.
However, questionable clock management allowed USC to run the clock out. Shedeur Sanders hit wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. for a touchdown with 1:43 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Buffaloes failed to recover the onside kick.
There should’ve been way more time left if the team had played with more urgency. Fans were left wondering why the Buffaloes continued to run the football with under four minutes remaining, despite not having any timeouts.
“Throughout the drive, there was a lack of urgency. The clock kept going. Five total runs. The clock kept going. Five total passes. The clock kept going. There was never any real indication that Lewis even realized it was the fourth quarter, not the third,” Pro Football Talk wrote.

Caleb Williams threw for 403 yards and tied a career-high with six touchdown passes as No. 8 Southern California held off Colorado 48-41 Saturday in Boulder.
The Trojans improved to 17-0 all-time against the Buffaloes, who were knocked off for a second straight week after a 3-0 start that made Deion Sanders’ team the biggest story in college football.
