Colorado head coach Deion Sanders apologized to Buffaloes fans following Saturday’s heartbreaking loss to the Arizona Wildcats.
The Buffaloes dropped their fourth game in a row, losing on a last-second field goal by Wildcats kicker Tyler Loop. With the loss, the Buffaloes fell to 4-6 with just two games to go — so they’ll have to win their final two contests just to finish .500.
“I apologize that we didn’t send them out right,” Sanders said after Colorado’s latest defeat, per Josh Tolle of Buffs Beat from Sports Illustrated’s FanNation site. “We wanted to because they deserve it.
“They’ve been supporting the heck out of us and they’ve been showing up and showing out. Another sellout crowd that ended in disappointment, We’re so close. It’s what I told the team. But yet so far. We just simply, truly don’t know how to win yet.”
The Buffaloes were the top story early, starting out a perfect 3-0 that was highlighted by a season-opening win over the TCU Horned Frogs. But the Buffaloes have been going backwards ever since, losing six of their last seven games — with five of them coming against top 25 teams.
Colorado will try to end its losing skid when they visit Washington State next Saturday. They will wrap up the regular season with a road game against No. 18 ranked Utah on Nov. 25.
