Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has revealed whether he will attempt to follow his sons to the NFL when they get drafted.
The former star cornerback currently coaches his boys, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, in Boulder and has been the only coach Shedeur has ever played for. The quarterback is already tipped to be the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, at least according to the bookmakers. But he won’t have his dad with him once he goes to the pros.
Sanders has often claimed he has no desire to coach in the NFL and reiterated as much during a press conference after the Buffaloes Spring Game on Saturday. While the lure of coaching one or both of his sons in the NFL is likely attractive, Coach Prime isn’t looking to follow them to the league.
“I tell them the truth,” he said (H/T Sports Illustrated). “I tell them I’m a father, not a baby daddy. I don’t follow my kids. I pave roads for my kids. I build generational wealth for my kids. I lead my kids. I don’t follow my kids. So, I do not plan on following my kids to the NFL. But I’m thankful, I’m glad that you already pretty much put them in the NFL. That means you believe in them wholeheartedly.”
