Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has alleged that other college programs are feeding lies about him to recruits.
The former star cornerback is heading toward the end of his first season in charge of the Buffaloes but there’s been lots of speculation over his future, with the vacancy at Texas A&M prompting a myriad of rumors.
Multiple reporters have linked Coach Prime to the job, and it appears that other programs have been using the development to feed the narrative of Sanders leaving Boulder at the end of the season.
The former Jackson State head coach suggested as much while speaking to Mark Johnson this week.
“I don’t talk about any other coaches or teams or staffs. I don’t believe in that,” he said. “I am not going to put you down so I can stand up. I’ve never been that type of player or person in my life. But all these other schools are telling these young men and their families I’m not going to be here.”
CU has already lost a 2025 four-star recruit due to uncertainty over Sanders’ future. Wide receiver Winston Watckins Jr. walked back on his commitment as he claimed to be unsure the Hall of Famer would still be around when he arrived in Boulder.

Primetime said he takes such rumors as compliments as it suggests that the Buffs are destined for success.
“They think that we’re going to be so successful that I’m going to leave,” he continued. “So they understand what we possess and the potential we possess. But then, that’s not true.”
Sanders, who says his family “absolutely loves” living in Colorado, addressed the speculation in his weekly press conference a few days ago, insisting that he’s “here” along with everyone in his circle, as well as his dog.
