Last week, the biggest story in college football was Deion Sanders’ program in Colorado losing so many players to the transfer portal and many of them coming out and speaking on what happened.
This week, he received some good news from the portal.
On Tuesday, the Buffs landed Washington EDGE Sav’ell Smalls after he played three seasons at Washington.
Per On3.com, “Washington edge transfer Sav’ell Smalls has committed to Colorado.” Noting, “He was a 5-star recruit in the class of 2020.”
Smalls decided to transfer after his third season with the Huskies. In 29 career games, he’s logged 32 tackles, one TFL, and a fumble recovery.
Smalls signed with Washington over 30 other Power 5 options, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and USC.

He should enter the Buffs’ locker room as a favorite to earn heavy playing time and defensive coordinator Charles Kelly has to be thrilled.
This comes as welcome news as Colorado saw 52 scholarship players enter the transfer portal since Deion Sanders was hired as head coach in December.
Despite the mass exodus, Deion doesn’t have to do much to exceed last year as the team went 1-11 under the previous coaching regime.
