ESPN’s flagship college football program College Gameday has announced its first celebrity guest picker of the season.
Country star Darius Rucker, and former lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, has announced that he will be the guest picker on September 2nd at 11:30 AM. Rucker, who worked on and recorded Gameday’s revised “Comin’ To Your City” theme, will pick winners in the inaugural week of college football.
Rucker, popularly known as Hootie for his band in the 1990s, hilariously claims he will go 90% with his picks. Whether or not he reaches that benchmark, fans are already chiming in and are excited for the star’s appearance on the show.

College football kicks off at tonight with headlining games like Central Michigan at Michigan State but Rucker will be picking from Saturdays games, including Ohio State at Indiana and Middle Tennessee at Alabama.
Rucker is no stranger to ESPN, as the Blowfish referenced the sports network throughout their hit video, Only Wanna Be With You, but will add a new accolade if he can make correct picks for fans.
Though Hootie aims for a 90% pick rate, if the Dolphins made him cry, I wouldn’t trust his judgment.
