Earlier today, news broke that University of Alabama basketball player Darius Miles had been charged with capital murder in the death of 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris.
Miles received the capital murder charge because he shot into a vehicle and killed the victim. He was arrested earlier this morning, as video showed him crying while being taken away by Tuscaloosa law enforcement.
According to reports, Miles, 21, and Michael Lynn Davis, 20, shot at the victim who was sitting in her car less than a half a mile from campus. The shooting is believed to be the result of a “minor altercation” between the parties while out on The Strip.
A passenger in Jamea’s vehicle is said to have returned fire, hitting one of the suspects and causing a non-life-threatening injury.
The shooting took place at roughly 1:45 am local time, and now there’s frightening footage from a nearby Ring doorbell that shows a few females fleeing on the street after hearing dozens of gunshots go off.

Miles was a junior reserve forward who had played in just six games for the No. 4 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide this season. Both he and Davis have been charged with capital murder and are being held without bond.
The school has released a statement following the arrest, saying Miles is no longer with the team or the school. They are cooperating with the investigation. It is believed that none of the other individuals involved were affiliated with the school.
