Rough night for Dabo Swinney. Not only did his Clemson Tigers suffer a tough loss to the Miami Hurricanes on the field, but he also took a big L at the podium during his postgame press conference.
Clemson had a 10-point lead heading into the fourth quarter at Hard Rock Stadium last night, but they allowed the Hurricanes to score 10 unanswered, before losing in double overtime by a score of 28-20.
Swinney was clearly distraught, but even that won’t excuse his choice of words during his postgame press conferene.
When asked whether the team had a sports psychologist, Swinney shockingly answered, “We’ve got one, and he’s probably on suicide watch right now.”
The loss drops Clemson to 4-3 on the season, and 2-3 in conference play, pretty much ending whatever slim hopes they had at a spot in the ACC title game.
It’s certainly understandable that Swinney would be rattled after this type of loss, but as someone who’s supposed to be a mentor for a bunch of young men, he’s got to do a whole lot better than this.
