Cooper Flagg, the nation’s consensus top player in the 2024 recruiting class, announced Monday that he will play his college basketball at Duke.
Cooper Flagg has officially committed to Duke, which means college basketball fans have one year to prepare to boo the heck out of him.
Flagg is the third No. 1 overall prospect in Duke’s history. The 6-foot-8 forward out of Montverde (Florida) Academy committed to the Blue Devils over reigning national champion UConn.
Many fans believe Flagg wl be the next greatest Duke player to be hated on like others who came before him.

In August, Flagg announced he was reclassifying from the 2025 class to 2024 and planned to enter college next fall. He will turn 18 in December of his freshman year, making him eligible for the 2025 NBA draft.
Flagg joins a Duke recruiting class that already features three top-60 prospects in five-star forward Isaiah Evans, five-star forward Kon Knueppel, and four-star forward Darren Harris. Flagg averaged 26.8 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 5.2 blocks, and shot 37.4% from 3-point range in 22 games with Maine United last spring and summer.
The Blue Devils aren’t done as they are also in contention to land five-star guard Dylan Harper, five-star forward VJ Edgecombe, and four-star center Patrick Ngongba ll as the early signing period nears.
