One of the country’s top College Football Playoff contenders went down on Saturday. No. 3 Oregon went into Stanford and was stunned, 31-24, in overtime.
Fans in Eugene feel like the Pac-12 officiating crew cost the Ducks this game and they were absolutely right when Stanford received a huge gift of a non-call.
With just a half-minute remaining with Stanford threatening to score, the entire offensive line jumped before the snap, a ref clearly saw it as he removed his flag, but failed to throw it as the Cardinals converted a pass.
Things only got worse for Oregon as they would be called for a defensive pass interference on fourth-and-goal just moments later to give Stanford another shot to tie the game, which they ultimately did.
That is just a brutal non-call that changed the outcome of the game.
