ESPN is reporting that Connor Stalions, a Michigan football analyst, has been suspended amid the NCAA’s investigations into the sign-stealing allegations against the Wolverines.
According to said publication, the university’s athletic director, Warde Manuel, announced on Friday that Stalions had been suspended with pay due to him being identified as a person of interest in the ongoing probe.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports is citing a source who claims Michigan has been employing an “elaborate” scouting system to steal signals from upcoming opponents from at least 2021. The No. 2-ranked program now faces the possibility of serious sanctions as the NCAA banned such scouting in 1994.
The NCAA is still investigating the Wolverines for recruiting infractions, with head coach Jim Harbaugh possibly facing additional punishment following his three-game suspension earlier this season. This newer investigation could also attract further punishment.
The head coach has denied knowledge of the sign-stealing scheme, insisting he would fully cooperate in any investigations as he doesn’t condone anything that is a breach of NCAA regulations.
“I do not have any knowledge or information regarding the University of Michigan football program illegally stealing signals, nor have I directed any staff member or others to participate in an off-campus scouting assignment,” Harbaugh said in a statement on Thursday.
