Connor Stalions has broken his silence amid the NCAA’s investigation into alleged sign-stealing by Michigan.
Stallions, believed to have been at the forefront of the illegal scouting scheme that has rocked college football, was recently suspended by the aforementioned governing body. Yahoo! Sports is now reporting that he has been fired.
The former Wolverines analyst has since revealed that the decision to part ways with the program was his own as he does not want to be a distraction.
“And I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure,” he said in a statement to The Athletic. “I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on.”
The Wolverines are ranked No. 3 in the nation and remain undefeated this season. They will play the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday evening.
Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh could face further punishment from the NCAA as its probe is still ongoing.
