Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a strong message for fans on social media, several days after the team wrapped up its 2023 regular season campaign.
The program’s season ended with a close 23-17 road loss to the Utah Utes on Saturday that dropped the Buffaloes to 4-8 for the year. Three days later, Shedeur took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a powerful message for Buffs fans:
The Buffaloes, coached by Shedeur’s father in Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, were the top story in college football for much of September. After winning just one game a year ago, the Buffaloes stunned the nation by starting out 3-0 — highlighted by a 45-42 road win over the TCU Horned Frogs in the season opener.
Colorado came back to earth from there, however, losing eight of their final nine games the rest of the way. Five of those losses came against ranked teams.
On one hand, the Buffaloes fist season under “Prime Time” was successful in that they quadrupled last year’s win total. But as we saw in their matchups against ranked teams, there’s still clearly plenty of work to do if Sanders is to turn this program back into a juggernaut.
Shedeur hasn’t announced his plans for 2024 yet, but many scouts project him to be a late first-round pick if he declares for the NFL Draft. Sanders threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns against three interceptions in 2023.
