Unsurprisingly, Deion Sanders’ arrival at the University of Colorado has led to a massive surge in ticket and merchandise sales.
According to Conor McCue of CBS News Colorado, close to 3,000 customers “have expressed” interest in purchasing Buffaloes season tickets since Sunday. On top of that, over 2,000 customers “have put down a $150 deposit to get a spot in line.”
The senior associate athletic director of external operations at the University of Colorado, Alexis Williams, even told McCue that they expect every home game in 2023 to be a sellout with Sanders now in the fold:
“We anticipate every game to be sold out, and I think this will be the first time we’ve had a season where every single game is actually sold out. It’s a proud moment to be here for this and help plan and strategize how we will do this.”
That’s not all. The Buffaloes’ official football team Twitter account announced that made $49,800 in online revenue in a single day following Sanders’ hiring. That marks a single-day record for the program.
Sanders joined the Jackson State Tigers in 2020, leading them to a 4-3 record in the COVID-19 shortened season. “Prime Time” coached the Tigers to back-to-back SWAC Championships in 2021 and 2022, compiling a 27-5 record up to this point.

The Tigers lost to Southern Carolina State in last year’s Celebration Bowl game, but they’ll try to redeem themselves when they play North Carolina Central in this year’s Celebration Bowl on Dec. 17 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jackson State’s quarterback is none other than Shedeur Sanders, the son of Prime Time, but the younger Sanders will also be making the move to Boulder next year. Deion has already announced that his son will be the team’s starting quarterback in 2023.
Widely considered the greatest cornerback of all-time, the 55-year-old Sanders was an eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback in his Hall of Fame football career. He won 1994 Defensive Player of the Year honors and won Super Bowl 29 and Super Bowl 30 rings with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, respectively.
