Travis Hunter is a certified star.
He could have gone anywhere in the country, but he chose to follow Deion Sanders to Colorado.
With that decision, the 21-year-old cornerback and wide receiver left a lot of money on the table.
Coming out of high school, Travis Hunter was the top-ranked prospect in the recruiting Class of 2022. Instead of heading to top schools like Florida State, where he committed, he flipped and took his talents to Jackson State to play for Deion Sanders.
Hunter recently spoke on his shocking decision to not only forego going to a big school and play for Jackson State but also go with Sanders to the Colorado Buffaloes.
At the time, there was a rumor that Barstool Sports paid $1,000,000 for Hunter to play at Jackson State, but that was found to be untrue.

Coach Prime even told 247Sports there were multiple attempts to poach Hunter, but he turned them down.
“People offered Travis Hunter a bag. About $1.5 million to try to lure him and buy him out of the transfer portal,” Prime said. “But Travis is not the kind of guy that can be bought. He isn’t built like that. Travis is a relational young man who is built on relationships and stability. And that’s what he wanted and desired. That is why he decided to ride and stay with us.
“I cannot wait until they see what he is capable of doing in these next couple of years. Because he will be a top-5 or top-3 pick after his junior year. But the sky’s the limit, he is going to play both ways and he is a vital part of the offense and the defense, and he wants that.”
Three schools were said to be in contact with Travis Hunter. They were rumored to be Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia.
Travis Hunter Makes NIL History with New Deal
Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter is already having a dynamic year and has added yet another NIL deal to his already growing portfolio.
Last month, Hunter made industry history by becoming the first college football player to sign with NerdWallet, a personal finance website that helps consumers compare and find top financial products.
Travis Hunter joined USC superstar basketball player JuJu Watkins and former Kentucky freshman sensation Rob Dillingham as the only others on NerdWallet’s NIL roster.
“Preparation is the key to success both on and off the field, and I’m excited to plan for a strong financial future with the help of NerdWallet,” Hunter said. “The opportunity to earn and be smarter with managing my NIL money in the right bank account while playing football was too good to pass up.”
