A starting college quarterback is leaving the game so he could pursue a career as a Navy SEAL.
Utah State QB Levi Williams has one year of eligibility left, but he doesn’t plan to use it as he is keen on carrying his family’s tradition of military service.
“I love football and it’s so great,” the signal-caller said on KSL Sports Zone’s ‘Hans and Scotty G. show’ this week. “But I knew that, eventually, it was going to come to an end.”
“I just want to be in a spot where I can protect this great country where we get to play football with the freedom to do that. I think this is the best country in the world. So I’d like to keep it that way and protect it as long as I can.”
Williams would begin training next summer if he makes it when the selection process takes place in February. He would graduate sometime in 2024.
The QB boasts a great frame, standing at 6ft 5in and weighing 230 LBS. He will hope that his dexterity on the football field and ability to analyze situations in quick time will help him off it.
