A college football quarterback is about to change schools again, having entered the transfer portal just two months after moving to his fifth school.
Should he end up at another school, Clifton McDowell would have joined six programs in less than six years.
According to The Temple News, the QB is leaving Temple and has thrown his name into the portal after missing team practice on March 23.
McDowell is believed to be 23 as his age hasn’t been verified. But he was a three-star recruit in 2019 and, given that most freshmen are 18 when they arrive on Campus, it’s safe to assume he’s 23 now.

He transferred down to junior college for a year after assistant coach, D.J. Looney passed away during practice. Looney had helped recruit McDowell to Louisiana, and the passing weighed heavily on him.
Clifton eventually landed at Central Arkansas, where he threw just 13 passes and scored three total touchdowns in six appearances.
The QB committed to Southern University on April 30 last year before de-committing and heading to Montana just two weeks later. He found success with the Grizzlies, completing 160 passes for 2,026 yards and 13 touchdowns while running for an additional 753 yards and nine touchdowns.
Montana went 13-1, winning the FCS Championship. And then McDowell was gone again.
The player committed to Temple on January 22 this year but has jumped back into the portal two months later as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.
