Bruce Barnum justs wants a full house of raging fans for his team and is willing to do whatever to make it happen.
The Portland State head coach appeared on The Oregonian columnist John Canzano’s podcast Tuesday and made an offer that most people will not turn down. He volunteered to personally pay for fans’ beers if they come out to support the Vikings against Western Oregon on Saturday.
“I’m not buying your ticket, but I’ll buy your beer,” Barnum told Canzano. When asked how many beers he’d be willing to buy, the 57-year-old head coach said “all of them.”
If you were wondering, Hillsboro Stadium seats 7,600 people and can be expanded up to a capacity of 10,000.
Portland State is 0-2 on the season after losing to Hawaii and Washington State.
“I don’t care if you’re watching the Oregon (or Oregon State) game,” Barnum said, “watch them on your phone. Buy your ticket and come to the game, I think you’ll like what you see.”
