When it comes to sports teams, some fan bases are just worse than others, and it is quite easy to tell when many others hold the same opinion of you.
College football produces some of the best rivalries in sport, but it can also produce the same between fans as well. Throughout the 2021 season, PlayMichigan.com surveyed 2,000 college football fans from around the country to determine the nation’s “most arrogant” fanbases.
Their results came up with the Alabama Crimson Tide in the No. 1 spot. It’s not hard to see why since Nick Saban bolted from the Miami Dolphins and came to town.
During the Nick Saban coaching era, the Crimson Tide have claimed six National Titles and amassed a 183-25 overall record. That is called dominance. Saban himself has even called “self-absorbed” Alabama fans for their extraordinary expectations earlier this season.
“When I came here, everybody was happy to win a game” Saban said in November. “Now we’re not happy to win a game anymore. We’re not happy to win a game at all. We think we should win games by [a larger margin] and I don’t think that’s fair to the players.”
Here’s the rest of the list:
No. 2 — Notre Dame
No. 3 — Duke (likely conflated with the basketball fanbase)
No. 4 — Auburn
No. 5 — Michigan State
