With coach Nick Saban’s decision to retire as Bama coach, things now shift to who will be hired to take over in his absence.
For years, rumors have swirled that Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney would be a top target for the Alabama job when Nick Saban decided to move on. That time might be now.
Following an ESPN report Wednesday afternoon that Saban was retiring after winning six national championships across 17 seasons at Alabama, Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd floated two names that he is hearing that could take over the head coaching job.
Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer is being mentioned as a candidate to replace Nick Saban as well as Clemson’s Dabo Swinney.
“Kalen DeBoer and Dabo Swinney,” Cowherd wrote on X. “Two names I’m hearing for Bama.”
ESPN’s Pete Thamel had Swinney as part of his “quick projected target list” of candidates for the Crimson Tide.
