The Clemson Tigers suffered a defeat on the road on Monday night that left them nursing a 0-1 start, with the Duke Blue Devils handing them a 28-7 result which should leave the camp in a bad mood this week.
The Tigers could only manage a single touchdown as quarterback Cade Klubnik threw for 209 yards and a score on 27/43 passing.
Fans were all making the same joke during the game given the team’s reputation for “Clemsoning” at just the wrong time. The term “Clemsoning” means finding a way to blow a big game or making a ridiculous mistake during key moments. You have to be the Tigers to take part in “Clemsoning,” though, something head coach Dabo Swinney claimed was over after leading the team to a national title in 2016.
It appears he was wrong as it returned in all its glory on Monday night.
The Tigers had lost two fumbles in the red zone, one of them inside the five-yard line, with just over 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. They also had two field goal attempts blocked.
So, of course, “Clemsoning” taunts were rife.

Swinney will need to nip this in the bud quickly; otherwise, it could be a long season (of Clemsoning).
