The Clemson Tigers are a great football program right now and it has everything to do with quarterback Trevor Lawrence who is poised to be just as great over the next two years as he was last season.
The Freshman not only won the starting job, but he took the Tigers to the National Title game and dismantled the Alabama Crimson Tide. If NFL teams could select him during the 2019 NFL Draft, he would’ve most certainly went #1.
Having a QB like that means once he’s gone, there is sure to be a considerable dropout in talent at that position.
Not for the Tigers, because over the weekend, the Tigers got a verbal commitment from the best high school quarterback in the country, D.J. Uiagalelei, who is also the Rivals.com overall No. 1 player in his class.
His enrollment wouldn’t happen until 2020, which would more than likely be Lawrence’s final year as he gets set to head to the NFL.
The 6-foot-5, 243-pound quarterback made his announcement via Youtube:

“I’ve never seen a junior in high school as physically gifted as D.J.,” longtime NFL quarterback Sage Rosenfels, who has worked with Uiagalelei at the camp, told Yahoo Sports on Sunday. “He has the body of a Pro Bowl, athletic quarterback. The ball shoots out of his hand. He’s super-powerful, athletic and accurate.”
Jason Negro, who is the coach at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, stated, “D.J. is a once-in-a-generation type talent who could transform the QB position because of his unique combination of speed, power, size and athleticism.”
“Coupled with his humility and determination, he could be beyond special at the next level and beyond.”
