Fred Davis and Malcolm Greene have been accused of racing each other which led up to a serious car accident that took place in 2021, according to a report.
The two Clemson Tigers football players were racing each other in the moments before a crash that severely injured a postal worker, according to a civil court lawsuit filed Wednesday.
That’s per The Journal’s Riley Morningstar, who cites a new lawsuit filed in local court. The accident “severely injured” a United States Postal worker.
Davis’ vehicle was going 115 mph when he first applied his brakes 2.8 seconds before the collision, according to the lawsuit. Davis collided with the rear of Karen Lorraine Alvarez’s car at 70 mph.
As a result of the crash, Alvarez, a U.S. Mail carrier, “sustained serious, severe, and permanent injuries including fractures of her skull, spine, pelvis, rib, and clavicle,” according to the lawsuit.
Davis was arrested for the incident. At the time, coach Dabo Swinney said Davis would face “a lot of consequences” for the decision. He was charged with reckless driving in the incident.

Both players remain on the Clemson football roster.
Alvarez is seeking actual and punitive damages from Davis and Greene, meaning if a jury or judge rules in her favor, Davis and Greene will be compelled by the court to pay for the lost wages and medical bills.
