An outright favorite has emerged as the favorite in the race to sign Kyle McCord following the quarterback’s decision to leave Ohio State.
McCord has entered the transfer portal following the disappointing end to the Buckeyes’ 2023 campaign, and On3’s Steven Sipple is reporting that Nebraska could be favored to land him as he considers the program to be among those who could be good for him.
“Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord has several schools in mind that he thinks would be a good fit for him, and Nebraska is one them, according to a source close to the Philadelphia native,” he wrote.
Sipple has also made claims of Cornhuskers offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield meeting with the player at an undisclosed location on Tuesday afternoon, adding that the OC met with Baylor and Michigan State transfers Blake Shapen and Sam Leavitt as well.
McCord, though, is one of the most coveted players in the portal. He started all 12 games for the Buckeyes, helping them to an 11-1 record as he completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Ohio State is now in the market for a starting QB but may have already sorted that out as ESPN’s Ryan Clark recently claimed they landed Washington State transfer Cameron Ward in a tweet he has since deleted.
