Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game between the Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies took a different turn when a camera went up to a suite at NRG Stadium.
Among the thousands of fans were some heavy-hitting sports legends in a spectator’s box at Houston’s NRG Stadium that featured Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, Stephen A. Smith, and Travis Scott among its patrons.
So much talent in one group.
The Huskies have made it to this point of the season off the arm of quarterback and Heisman Trophy runner-up Michael Penix Jr., who entered Monday’s CFP championship game with 4,648 passing yards and 35 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
The Wolverines have allowed an FBS-low seven touchdown passes.
Michigan last won the national championship in 1997, the year before the BCS system went into effect, while Washington’s last title came in 1991.
