Not since the days of LeBron James in high school has one single player captured the attention of the media, but that is exactly what Zion Williamson’s talent has gotten him and more.
The Duke Blue Devils superstar is clearly not a regular player on the team, and CBS plans to let everybody know about it tonight by having a camera dedicated to every move he makes on the court, whether he’s playing or on the bench.
CBS producer Marc Wolff revealed to The News and Observer (Raleigh, N.C.) the network plans to have a “Zion Cam” focused on the elite player throughout Duke’s run through March Madness. We’ll see exactly what it is Friday night when the Blue Devils take on No. 16 seed North Dakota State at 7:10 p.m. ET.
“Because of Zion, we have added a camera dedicated to him the whole time he is on the floor,” Wolff said. “We hired a cameraman, a camera, a digital tape machine to record everything he does.
“We were recording his workout here today in the event something were to happen. We are monitoring Zion 24-7.”
That seems extremely excessive for an amateur player making $0, but ratings rule above all.
