USC star Caleb Williams was overcome with emotion after his team’s 52-42 loss to Washington on Saturday night. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner could be seen running over to his family in the first row along the Trojans’ sideline.
Although his face was covered, it was obvious that he was crying.
Former NFL wide receiver James Jones did not like what he saw from the young man.
On Tuesday’s Speak, Jones made it clear that he does not mind seeing players cry after a football game, but he did have an issue with Williams exhibiting “attention-seeking behavior.”
“You’re the best player in college football,” Jones said. “You know the whole world’s watching you. You know the cameras are never leaving you. You jump in the stands and cry to your mom?”

Jones went on to add that he would’ve been fine with Williams showing “raw emotion” and crying with teammates on the sideline but he could never recall a moment when a player sought out their parents to cry in the stands.
“Cry in the locker room. Cry with your family after the game,” Jones advised. “To jump in the stands, I thought was just absolutely crazy.”
The Trojans were basically eliminated from College Football Playoff contention before Saturday night, and suffering a second defeat in conference play is a massive blow to their hopes of competing for a Pac-12 title.
The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner and potential No. 1 pick in next year’s NFL Draft went 27-for-35 for 312 yards and 3 TDs and rushed for 1 more TD in USC’s 42-52 loss to Washington in the Coliseum.
