Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark has decided to forego her final year of eligibility with her eyes on the WNBA.
Clark has attracted lots of criticism over her major life choice, with many claiming that she’s leaving NIL money on the table by opting to go pro. However, it’s getting harder to make a case for said notion by the day as she’s landed a new sponsor since she declared for the draft.
Gainbridge Life Insurance announced reaching an endorsement deal with the Hawkeyes guard on Tuesday.
“We are thrilled to partner with a generational talent like Caitlin Clark,’’ Dan Towriss, Group 1001 President and CEO, said in a press release. “We look forward to having Caitlin join (tennis legend) Billie Jean (King) and (golf star) Annika (Sorenstam) to represent Gainbridge as this new product for women is launched and now available on the Gainbridge platform.”
Gainbridge, based in Indiana, is one of the fastest-growing insurance companies in the United States. It also sponsors the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and WNBA’s Indiana Fever play their home games.
As it happens, the Fever have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 WNBA Draft and are expected to select Caitlin, who became the all-time leading scorer in Division I college basketball (male or female) this season.
