Rivalries never die.
On Saturday night, there was some drama on stage during the 2022 Heisman Trophy ceremony between C.J. Stroud and Desmond Howard.
This all began last year when Howard took a shot at Stroud and the Buckeyes when he said that former Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett did a better job at protecting Stroud than his offensive line did.
Days before the ceremony, Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones made sure Howard wouldn’t disrespect Ohio State again when he tweeted, “Just keep them slick ass comments to yourself up on stage and let these well deserving young men enjoy one of the biggest, prestigious moments a collegiate athlete can have. Congrats and good luck to all 4 finalists. #CJForHeisman,” Jones wrote on Twitter.
This year, Stroud walked on stage and appeared t purposely not shake the hand of Howard.
“While being introduced at the Heisman Trophy ceremony, C.J. Stroud shook the hands of the first two Heisman winners on stage. He stopped at the third guy, who just so happened to be Desmond Howard,” Josh Poloha tweeted.

In the end, University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams won the Heisman Trophy. Williams entered his first season with the Trojans with sky-high expectations after he transferred from Oklahoma. He exceeded them all as he led the Trojans all the way to the Pac-12 Championship game.
Williams becomes the school’s first player to win the award since Reggie Bush in 2005.
Stroud came in third in the voting.
