Brenden Rice, the son of Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps and carve out a career in the NFL.
The USC wide receiver has taken to social media to announce that he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft with a strong message, thanking the Trojans for taking him in and making him feel at home.
“Trojan Family. Thank you for taking me in and making me feel at home,” he wrote in a post on X. “Through the good and bad, being a Trojan means to persevere and Fight the F On.”
Rice began his college career with the Colorado Buffaloes, registering 400 receiving yards and five touchdowns before transferring to USC. He logged 45 yards for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and will look to continue his career in the pros.
The 21-year-old isn’t all that high on the draft boards and is tipped to get picked in the third round by many of the top outlets, but he could help his prospects if he can impress at the NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Day next year.
That the man considered to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history is his dad can’t hurt.
