Justice is coming for the family of Aaron Lowe.
On Sunday morning, a man was arrested for the murder of 21-year-old Aaron Lowe. Police say 22-year-old Buk M. Buk was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. Buk has been charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder and felony discharge of a firearm for his alleged role in the killing of Lowe.
In addition to being accused of murdering the sophomore cornerback, Buk is also alleged to have shot a 20-year-old woman at the same house party. That unknown woman is still fighting for her life.
Lowe appeared in four games for the Utes this season before he was tragically killed. He recorded three tackles.
“Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him,” Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said in a statement last Sunday. “He will be deeply missed.”

“In a time of need, we turned to our community. We asked people to come forward and to share the information they had. Because of those tips and the unrelenting pursuit of justice from our homicide detectives, we have arrested the person accused of murdering Aaron Lowe. So many lives have been impacted from this senseless shooting. I want to thank the work of our patrol officers, detectives, crime lab technicians, our data analysts, and the professional staff of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Their dedicated work of combing through every lead and every piece of evidence is what led us to this arrest.”
Lowe was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship which honored the memory of another University of Utah football player who died in an accidental shooting in December of 2020.
