Breaking news out of the SEC as LSU reportedly has their next head coach lineup up.
For those who don’t remember, former Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron was resigned back in October after a rough start to the season, coupled with rumors that he had hit on the pregnant wife of an LSU official at a gas station.
Now, it appears as though LSU may have found his replacement. And it’s none other than current Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley.
As Dylan Sanders points out, this is only a verbal agreement at the moment. Things could change, as the Sooners are currently leading Oklahoma State with a spot in the Big 12 Championship and possibly the College Football Playoff on the line. Should the Sooners hold on for the win, their meeting will no doubt be delayed. Whether or not that causes LSU to look elsewhere for their next head coach remains to be seen.
Riley took over the head coaching job at Oklahoma back in 2017. For the next three seasons, the Sooners won the Big 12 conference and reached the College Football Playoff, before losing in the semi-finals each time. Last year, OU finished in second in the Big 12 and won their first bowl game under Riley, defeating Florida in the Cotton Bowl.

As for LSU, they have now finished with .500 records in back-to-back season after winning a National Championship with Joe Burrow under center in 2019.
