Iowa Hawkeyes superstar guard Caitlin Clark has given her highly-anticipated decision on the 2024 WNBA Draft.
On Thursday, Clark announced in a letter to Hawkeyes fans that she is officially declaring for the Apr. 15 WNBA Draft. Clark is widely expected to be the first overall pick that belongs to the Indiana Fever:
The Des Moines native joined the Hawkeyes’ basketball program in the 2020-21 season and quickly emerged as one of the nation’s top players. The 22-year-old led Iowa to NCAA national championship game last year, where they fell to Angel Reese’s LSU Tigers by a final score of 102-85.
Clark’s impressive trophy room and career accolades in the NCAA include 2023 AP Player of the Year, Honda Sports Award, John R. Wooden Award, Naismith College Player of the Year and USBWA Women’s National Player of the Year honors.
The two-time unanimous first-team All-American selection and two-time scoring champion is also the NCAA women’s basketball all-time scoring leader earlier this month, having surpassed the record held by Kelsey Plum.
In 29 game appearances this season, Clark has averaged 32.2 points (a career-high), 7.4 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game while shooting 46.9 from the field and 39.5 from beyond the arc. Clark and the No. 6 ranked Hawkeyes will conclude the 2023-24 regular season at home against No. 2 ranked Ohio State on Sunday.
