A new city is set to host the CFP National Championship game in 2027.
According to a report from Action Network, Las Vegas has been chosen as the location for the 2027 CFP title game, with New Orleans, Dallas, and Miami negotiating to host the final games from 2028-30.
The publication quotes a source who claims that Vegas is a lock to host the game as it’s a done deal.
“Supposedly, nothing is ever a ‘lock,’ but Las Vegas is a ‘lock’ to host the 2027 game,” the source said. “It is a done deal. The College Football Playoff has been wanting to get to Vegas for years. We’ll finally get our wish.”
Per sources, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Dallas, and Miami were picked by the CFP as preferred host cities from 2027-30, although a new playoff format set to begin in 2026 hasn’t been determined where it pertains to the number of teams involved (12 or 14).
While Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium is set to host the National Championship in January 2027, the other cities are still discussing the next three title games. If they can’t reach an agreement, Houston, Phoenix, and Tampa have been selected as backup options.

According to sources, the venues for the games from 2027-30 will be announced in September.
Las Vegas Will Be The 11th Different City To Host The National Championship Game
Las Vegas will be the 11th different host city for the CFP title game, having just hosted Super Bowl 58. It’s also scheduled to host the 2028 Men’s Final Four.
The CFP tried to get the city to showcase the 2025 final three years ago but they couldn’t come to terms as the game would have clashed with the annual Consumer Electric Show, which also takes place in January.
The show attracts close to 200,000 visitors to Vegas every year, which means that thousands of hotel rooms and other amenities are to be used.
Atlanta was selected as a late replacement. And, with the CFP expanding to accommodate 12 teams, the upcoming game has been pushed back two weeks to January 20, 2025.
Miami will host the 2026 championship game, which will mark the last year of the initial 12-year CFP contract.
