The 2024 College Football Season Will Usher In 12-Team Format
The 11th College Football Playoff season will take place in 2024, marking the first time the 12-team format will be used.
There was only one Group of Five teams that made it to the four-team field in the first ten years of the College Football Playoff.
For the first time in playoff history, the Group of Five will receive automatic entry when the CFP grows to 12 teams in 2024. It’s still being determined if that will hold true in the long run. However, the top-ranked G5 club will have a position in the field in the near future.
