Center Kyle Filipowski announced on his social media account on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he would drop his remaining eligibility and enter the NBA Draft after an impressive sophomore season.
“After careful consideration and consultation with the people closest to me, I have decided to declare for the NBA Draft, This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue it,” Filipowski wrote in the post on his social media account.
Filipowski averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 36 games. He improved his three-pointers from 28.2 percent as a freshman in 2022–2023 to 34.8 percent.
Filipowski was the fourth overall recruit in the 2022 class, and he exceeded expectations in his first season. He set a new record by becoming the first rookie in program history to double-double in his first three career games.

Filipowski may have felt let down by how the season turned out for the club. In all their regular season matches, the Blue Devils were defeated by their archrival, North Carolina, falling short of their preseason ranking as the nation’s second-best squad.
Filipowski is the second Duke Blue Devil to declare, and as per current projections, he is expected to be picked in the first round. He may not start right away, but as a stretch four, he should be able to provide immediate offensive production off the bench.
Unlike his time at Duke, when he earned many post touches, he will most likely play on the perimeter and handle the ball in space more. It will be interesting to see which team picks him in the 2024 NBA draft.
