Outgoing Boise State offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is not a fan of what Oregon and many others are doing in college football.
The Ducks’ undefeated season ended in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day when they lost 41-21 to Ohio State, which is on its way to the Cotton Bowl.
Speaking to KTIK 95.3 FM The Ticket, the now-former Boise State offensive coordinator-turned-analyst Dirk Koetter dropped potentially damning allegations toward coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks football program.
Koetter is accusing Oregon of offering one of the team’s players $700,000 in a tampering effort to get him into the transfer portal.
“I know for a fact that just last week, after the Fiesta Bowl, one of the key starters on defense got a call from the Oregon Ducks offering him $700,000,” he said, via ON3.
“(Offensive tackle) Kage Casey, Casey’s probably going to be a first-round pick. He would’ve probably been a high pick this year, but I do think he needs another year to develop … I’m sure he could’ve got close to a million dollars in the portal.”
Casey has not publicly stated whether he will head to the NFL Draft, return to Boise State, or transfer elsewhere.

To put the $700,000 figure for one player that allegedly came from Oregon in perspective, Koetter revealed that Boise State’s “salary cap is $2 million” for the entire roster.
“But the people we’re competing against, maybe not in our current conference, but where we’re going and who we’re expected to compete against, it’s as high as $20 million.”
This type of tampering is frowned upon as it violates the rules for contacting recruits and is considered an impermissible recruiting contact.
It’s no secret that college football has undergone some serious changes. The first big change is the transfer portal, and the second is the introduction of NIL.
Oregon Ducks Were Previously Subject Of Cheating Investigation Initiated By Colorado Buffaloes
A major story hit the College Football world after it was reported that after a 42-6 defeat against the Oregon Ducks in Autzen Stadium in 2023, staffers from the Colorado Buffaloes football program discovered attempts to get into their practice footage and other important data.
The Buffaloes reached out to then PAC-12 conference officials, and Deion Sanders was involved in initiating the inquiry.
According to the sources from Front Office Sports, the Buffaloes didn’t provide any information that Oregon or anyone else was at fault.
