The Bishop Sycamore high school football scandal will be on full display Aug. 23 on HBO.
“BS High” is a documentary that will chronicle the Bishop Sycamore football team, which advertised itself as an Ohio state high school football powerhouse. However, they got exposed shortly after being on ESPN and getting destroyed in a game where they should’ve been a challenge. Nw, this documentary will shed light on a program that was not a high school at all.
With the documentary set to premiere very soon, Awful Announcing shared an interesting update on Bishop Sycamore’s founder, Roy Johnson.
Last month, Johnson filed for bankruptcy and the paperwork noted he has less than $50,000 in assets and somewhere between $100,000-500,000 in liabilities.
More information via Awful Announcing:
According to the paperwork, which had to be resubmitted due to errors Johnson made, Johnson estimates he has 17 creditors to whom he owes money (shown below). That list includes a bank that gave him a loan for the COF Academy/Bishop Sycamore scheme, various collection agencies, and a smattering of other businesses. However, Johnson has not accounted for all of his debts. Missing from the list is a lawsuit Johnson lost in Franklin County for not paying game officials for a COF Academy football game, as well as the debts he owes Delaware County courts for two criminal convictions there. It is safe to assume there are other debts out there that Johnson has simply forgotten about.
Awful Announcing further reported Johnson has $127,000 in debt for just First Merchants Bank.

Johnson, who had a bench warrant out in Delaware County associated with an assault charge that was reduced to criminal mischief, was fired after Bishop Sycamore’s loss by Peterson.
During the 2021-22 school year, the Ohio Department of Education did not have Bishop Sycamore listed as a charter school, but did have it listed as a “non-chartered, non-tax supported school” the year before, a type of school that “because of truly held religious beliefs, choose to not be chartered by the State Board of Education.”
After the team’s 58-0 loss to IMG Academy on ESPN, national attention turned to Bishop Sycamore and fans have been waiting for somebody to do a deep dive into the situation to get a documentary out about it.
“BS High” will air Aug. 23 from 9 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. on HBO and will be available to stream on MAX.
