The Michigan Wolverines have received a notice from The Big Ten about potential consequences over their alleged sign-sealing scandal, per multiple reports.
According to Angelique S. Chengelis of The Detroit News, Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines were given a notice from the Big Gen about possible consequences. They have until Wednesday to reply to the notice, Chengelis added:
“Michigan received formal notification from the Big Ten on Saturday regarding potential disciplinary action under the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy and now Michigan has until Wednesday to respond, multiple sources told The Detroit News on Monday.
Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti was in Ann Arbor on Friday and met with University of Michigan president Santa Ono to discuss an alleged sign-stealing scheme involving the Michigan football program. This meeting came on the heels of Petitti hearing from Big Ten coaches and athletic directors last week in separate video calls. The coaches and athletic directors reportedly demanded action against Michigan based on the Big Ten’s Sportsmanship Policy.”
The NCAA has been investigating allegations of the Wolverines sign-stealing. The allegations date back to the 2021 season. Michigan staffer Connor Stallions, the centerpiece of the alleged scandal, resigned from the school on Friday afternoon.
Harbaugh served a three-game suspension earlier this season for violating NCAA recruiting rules. There is widespread speculation that Harbaugh could be removed from the Wolverines’ program, depending on the investigation’s findings.
