A terrible remark live on an SEC Network studio set led to an awkward confrontation between ESPN reporter Peter Burns and commentator Benjamin Watson.
The situation played out in real-time during halftime of the Florida-Vanderbilt game. Burns, Watson, Chris Doeren and former Auburn linebacker Takeo Spikes were talking about their respective suits. Burns made the comment that Watson was the only one on set wearing a light-colored suit.
“As long as I get a text from my wife that says that I look good,” Watson said. “Send me the text, baby, send me the text.”
Burns responded, “That’s not the text she sent me.”
The halftime report then went to break. When they returned, Burns was missing from the desk while Watson walked back with an angry look on his face.
Hours after the interaction, Burns would post a selfie of them together that suggested things between them were okay. However, Watson made it clear that he owed his wife an apology.

“Moving on. But you still owe Mrs. Watson a public apology.”
I don’t care who you are, you should know as a man that making jokes about a man’s wife or kids is something that should always be off limits.
