Juli Boeheim, the wife of Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim, was robbed of her purse at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon while she was seated in her vehicle in the parking lot of the Destiny USA shopping mall in Syracuse, according to a report by Chip Libonati of Syracuse.com.
She was sitting in her car when she was approached by a “youth” who pointed a gun at her.
“The victim of the robbery was sitting in her car near the Cheesecake Factory entrance when she was approached by a youth, police said,” Libonati reported. “He talked with her before pointing a gun at her, reaching into her car and grabbing her purse, according to police.
“The youth and two others drove away in a nearby car, police said. The car they drove away in had been reported stolen, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatch reports.”
Jim Boeheim coached Syracuse in the Orange’s 88-79 overtime loss at North Carolina on Monday night. Juli was seated behind the Syracuse bench for that game.
Jim and Juli Boeheim were married in 1997 and have three children together.
