The poor referee who was seen on camera being kicked and punched in the face by multiple people following a Georgia youth basketball game required 30 stitches for his wounds, according to TMZ.
Kenneth Tarver, the founder of KB Sports who helped put on the youth tournament, says the guy is doing better now. Tarver added that the game featured a bunch of 8th graders, but has no clue what caused the postgame assault to happen.
Tarver added that he’s banned the team involved in the scuffle and will be beefing up security so nothing like this ever happens again. The referee in question is expected to make a full recovery.
“I’m gonna make it safer for the officials,” Tarver tells us.
Police are said to be investigating the incident.
