A wild brawl broke out during an AAU basketball game in Kansas City over the weekend following a heated exchange between a coach and referee. The fight erupted Saturday morning during the Hardwood Classic X RecruitLook Summer Finale. Things got heated following what appeared to be a technical foul call, as the coach whose team got whistled for the foul ran up on the ref to complain about it.
After some back-and-forth jawing, things got physical when they squared up with each other. The ref threw a right hook and began to backpedal as he got jumped from all sides.
According to TMZ, police were called to the gymnasium, but nobody got arrested.
“TMZ Sports has learned … law enforcement responded to a call regarding a large crowd fighting in a gymnasium around 9:45 AM on Saturday.
By the time officers responded, the fight had already been broken up … but cops took a report for non-aggravated assault.
We’re told all victims declined to press charges.”
The fight ends with several individuals pulling the coach off the ref, who appears to have been escorted to safety.
