SIUE and UT Martin men’s basketball were in a tight battle in the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference tournament, but things came to a halt after a punch was thrown.
UT forward Rifen Miguel could be seen dropping his head with his hands up as he kept driving his body into SIUE forward DeeJuan Pruitt’s face.
Pruitt eventually had enough and threw a vicious punch that connected to his opponent’s face. Both benches retaliated and the scene ended with three player ejections.
The game had to be delayed for 10 minutes as refs ejected both fighting players as well as UT Martin’s Jalen Myers for swinging at Pruitt.
Pruitt exited the game with three points and two rebounds in 14 minutes. Miguel scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds. Myers scored two points, adding one rebound, one assist and one steal.
