UConn basketball and the sports world is in mourning today after the tragic news was passed down that former star Stanley Robinson has passed away at age 32.
“The UConn Basketball family grieves the loss of a great player and an even greater person, Stanley “Sticks” Robinson,” said the UConn basketball Twitter account. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Stanley’s family at this difficult time.”
Robinson was a high school All-America before becoming a standout for UConn from 2006-10. Robinson helped the Huskies reach the 2009 Final Four.
He played in 126 games and averaged 9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest and was chosen with the 59th-overall pick in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
Although he never played in the NBA regular season, he did have stints in the G League as well as in Canada, Chile, Iceland, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic.
